SBDC draws not only on the expertise of its own staff, but also from the resources of the SBDC Central Library and various federal, state and local government agencies. Since its inception in 1984, the SBDC in Binghamton has assisted more than 11,417 clients and helped to raise more than $139 million in private and public funding for their businesses. Trade Adjustment Assistance CenterBinghamton University administers one of the 12 trade adjustment assistance centers throughout the nation. The TAAC at Binghamton serves small to medium-sized manufacturing companies throughout New York State. The trade adjustment assistance program equips U.S. manufacturers to respond to import competition. For some businesses, imports represent a minor challenge; for others they pose a serious threat. Binghamton’s TAAC partners with manufacturers by offering 50/50 cost sharing of projects aimed at improving the firm's competitiveness. The funds are applied toward the cost of consultants, engineers or other outside professional help engaged on behalf of the firm to implement manufacturing, engineering, marketing, systems, quality or finance improvement projects. Since 1978, the TAAC at Binghamton has helped more than 1,200 New York firms and provided them with more than $53 million in assistance. Contact information: |

Binghamton's SPIR assists small and mid-sized businesses through partnership projects staffed by Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science students, faculty and client personnel. SPIR was initiated at Binghamton University's Watson School in 1994 with strong support from the governor and legislature. An estimated $90 million in wages-per-year is generated by the approximately 2,500 jobs that SPIR has helped its partners create and retain. Contact information: |
