Government Relations links Binghamton University with the community, elected officials, agencies and departments at all levels. We work to develop relationships with those who have an opportunity to affect our future. We communicate to opinion leaders, decision makers and the public how the University is preparing for the challenges of the coming century and on matters related to higher education. We provide counsel, information and ideas that will strengthen support for the University and public higher education in general.
We work on a number of fronts, including advocacy and local, state and federal relations. We bring together individuals and organizations that need and want to know more about the important work and contributions made by Binghamton University and the State University of New York and promote actions and discussion of issues vital to the future of higher education in our state. This engagement enables the University to affect support and future development of research, capital infrastructure, International study and higher education needs on campus and within the community.
Our advocacy program, Think Binghamton, enlists volunteer alumni, friends and community supporters in a process that guarantees that the voices of Binghamton University are heard by our elected and government officials at every level. Our local government and community relations and state government relations office maintains a positive relationship with community representatives and elected officials in Greater Binghamton and Albany. Our federal relations office serves as a liaison between the University and members of Congress as well as staff and federal agencies in Washington, D.C .
Together we work to promote the future of public higher education and Binghamton University.
