Federal Relations
Federal Relations is the main point of contact between Binghamton University and Congress and federal agencies in carrying out the federal initiatives of the University. Federal Relations represents the University’s interests to the federal government and seeks to influence its actions when the University's interests may be affected. The office works with higher education associations to respond to legislative, regulatory and budget actions affecting higher education. The office also serves as a resource for faculty, staff and administrators by providing assistance and information on governmental information, contacts and resources.
Michael Frame has served as director of federal relations for Binghamton University since 2006. He also currently serves as the interim director of federal relations for the State University of New York system. He previously served as director of special projects for the Metropolitan Development Association in Syracuse and as federal relations assistant and policy analyst for the California State University system in Washington, D.C. Mike received a bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University and a master’s degree in public administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
In addition to sitting on the SUNYCUAD board, Mike serves on the executive committee of the Council of Government Affairs for the Association of State Universities and Land-grant Universities (APLU), the board of directors of The Science Coalition, the Government and Public Affairs Committee of MedTech, and the Government Affairs Committee of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as past-chairman of the Young Leaders Congress, part of the I Live New York Initiative and on the board of directors for OnPoint for College.
