Sammakia has spent much of his 30-year research career
working to improve thermal management strategies in
electronics packaging. He has conducted and enabled
research and collaborations that annually contribute
$30 million to the region's economic base while providing
important assistance to more than 50 member companies
including ADI, IBM, Universal Instruments, GE Corporate
Research and Development, and BAE Systems Controls.
He has published over 50 technical papers in refereed
journals and conference proceedings. He has contributed
to three books on natural convection heat transfer.
He is the principal investigator or co-principal investigator
on cross-disciplinary sponsored research totaling in
the multi-millions, and he was recognized for his research
excellence by Chancellor Robert L. King in October 2002.
Sammakia is also director of the University's acclaimed
Integrated Electronics Engineering Center and is director
of Economic Development and Outreach.
