Goals and Objectives 2009-2010
1. Enhance the University's role in technology transfer and economic development.
- Help create two more interdisciplinary faculty groups to address technology needs and enhance commercialization of research discoveries.
- Increase royalty patent licensure revenue an additional 20%.
2. Increase the number and breadth of faculty who will advance research productivity and funding. A continuing goal is to significantly increase research awards and expenditures.
- Work with the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Administration to ensure funds are available for equipment for strategic research hires.
- Increase research expenditures by 5% and research awards by 10%.
3. To enhance Center of Excellence activities and aid the Center of Excellence in the development of key projects for the Center for Autonomous Solar Power.
4. Accelerate the development of additional research space.
- Work with the Division of Administration on the final phase of construction and completion of laboratories in the Biotechnology Building.
- Assist in the completion of design of the Center of Excellence building.
- Work with the Vice Presidents for Administration and Academic Affairs and external consultants to complete the study of science buildings and the Facilities Master Plan.
5. Enhance professional development for Research Division employees.
- Provide opportunities for employees to improve their employment skills, for example, through participation in professional society meetings.
- Partner with the Division of Academic Affairs to comply with the requirement in the America Competes Act for additional training for responsible and ethical conduct of research.
6. Enhance system for electronic approval and submission of sponsored applications (COEUS) to include a human studies module.
