The delegation included Molly Broad, president University of North Carolina System, Robert H. Bruininks, president University of Minnesota, and Larry Faulkner, president University of Texas. The delegation was led by Dan Mattoon and Rebecca Edgar-Gooding from PodesaMattoon, a DC based firm that provides administrative services to the Science Coalition. The group had productive meetings with Joshua Bolten, director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Allan Hubbard, director of the National Economic Council. The presidents delivered the message that sustained support for research across the entire range of scientific disciplines is the most important step the nation can take to maintain America's position at the forefront of scientific discovery, technological innovation, and economic growth in the 21st century. |
