University to host 2005 research symposium
Building on the success of a similar event in 2003, Binghamton University will be hosting a major statewide research symposium, Destination Discovery ’05, on March 23 and 24, 2005. The event will explore the changing face of sponsored research by means of both broad-based and targeted sessions designed to help faculty succeed in securing funding, collaborators and resources for their work. The theme will be Across the Disciplines: Research Policies, Practice and Promise.
Innovation Summit
More than 75 faculty, graduate students and industry representatives participated in Innovation Summit, a half-day event cosponsored by NYSTAR, Binghamton University’s Division of Research, and the Greater Binghamton Coalition on May 18 at the Regency Hotel in Binghamton.
Binghamton DNA Life Science Center Opens: BU faculty to play key role
Binghamton University faculty are playing a key role in the development of a community-based DNA Life Science Center to help educate the public on the mysteries of biotechnology, genetic engineering and advances in DNA. The Decker Life Science Learning Center and Ahern Computer Lab opened recently at the Roberson Museum and Science Center. The center couples museum resources with faculty expertise from BU and the Dolan DNA Learning Center at Cold Spring Laboratories on Long Island.
New local clinic to study functional disorders
Binghamton University researchers are helping to spearhead the creation of a new clinic to study unconnected physical ailments through a partnership with a local health care provider.
Libous says BU key to region's success
Binghamton University is central to the region’s efforts to identify new industrial and economic opportunities, State Senator Thomas Libous said Monday during a visit to campus to review a number of new projects. “If we don’t build it around the University, we’re never going to build it,” Libous said. “It all starts right here. The University is a tremendous asset for the community.”
