Allison Alden is currently Director of the Center for Applied Community Research and Development and an assistant professor in the Masters of Public Administration Program at Binghamton University.

Alden has been actively engaged in work and research with high need children and families for more than twenty years. She is the PI and Director of the HUD-funded Center City Coordination Project focused on improving quality of life issues for residents in the most hard-pressed region of the city of Binghamton. Other recent research focuses on identity development and resilience in "at-risk" female adolescents. Earlier, Alden conducted a ten-year research study to test the effectiveness of school- and home- based interventions on student drop-out. She has served as a consultant on grant writing, employee training, and program evaluation to numerous organizations.Alden is currently contracted by the Broome County Department of Social Services to provide intensive training and professional development to all 400 employees. She has also organized and directed a number of conferences on issues critical to "at-risk" populations, including two national research conferences on addictions.

In addition, she founded the Executive Forum on Human Services in January of 2001 to provide a comfortable setting for executive directors of human services to discuss their most pressing issues. This organization has continued to grow and this year has decided to survey all 375 not-for-profits in human services in this region to better work toward its goal of community-wide collaboration. Alden is a founding board member of the Diversity Collaborative, a community- based, not-for profit organization dedicated to helping workers in school, business, and human service settings better understand and value human differences. She also sits on the board of the Southern Tier Professional Development Consortium, which conducts training sessions across ten countries for professionals who are engaged in educating and providing services to high need adults. In addition, Alden is a board member of Fairview Recovery Services, a community not-for-profit that provides services to people recovering from addictions.
