Abstract: The researcher examined the correlation between lack of sleep quality and the academic performance among a wide range of different grade levels and majors at Cayuga Community College. The results supported a connection between sleep quality and academic performance. The research conducted reveals that sleep plays a huge role in our memory and mental and physical well-being. The survey conducted by the researcher shows that many students fail to prioritize sleep, leading to poorer grades and sleep deprivation. The survey involved 17 students among an English class and an anatomy and physiology class. Results confirm that lack of sleep among students leads to poorer grades, negative mental and physical symptoms, and impaired memory. As a result of the evidence, it is essential to implement strict regulations on workload to ensure students get enough sleep at night to perform well in school. The implications of this research emphasize the need to address sleep deprivation to help improve academic performance and the overall well-being of college students. Future studies could explore the impact of sleep quality on college students and their social relationships with others. Another area to examine is the importance of sleep in maintaining a healthy and successful academic career.
