Abstract: Traditional learning strategies have shown less effectiveness compared to when intrinsic motivation is present in the classroom. The question is then posed, how does the use of an escape room as a review method affect a student’s intrinsic motivation towards the material? and just how does the use of an escape room as a review method affects a student’s motivation and in turn affect academic performance in terms of GPA? The improvement in GPA and test scores will reflect the effectiveness of escape rooms and competitive nature placed in the classroom. Students will be given the classroom time to complete the escape room. Participants will be required to produce an informed consent and will be provided with the utmost respect to their privacy. The results of this experiment can alter the education system and how we as a society learn. Limitations are possible with how students react to this new form of learning, as well as in the perspective of the educator.
