Abstract: Financial limitations cause period poverty and include limited access to menstrual hygiene products, education, and sanitary facilities; it is a crucial problem that adversely affects a person's health, education, and general well-being. My research question is: How do the attitudes and experiences of college students, faculty, and staff towards period poverty influence the implementation of supportive policies and programs within educational institutions? I plan to use a mixed methods approach for my study. Surveys will be used to collect quantitative data on participants' experiences with period poverty, including their academic achievement, financial difficulties, and access to menstruation supplies. Open-ended survey questions and interviews will be used to collect qualitative data to understand better the psychological and emotional toll that period poverty takes on college students. The initiative aims to raise awareness and collect data within school communities through age-appropriate presentations delivered during health classes or assemblies to educate individuals on period poverty. The project fosters discussions and highlights advocacy opportunities, empowering students to address this challenge and support initiatives. The study concludes that the correlation between individuals who have a better understanding of period poverty and its impact on students are more likely to support and advocate for implementing policies and programs to address this issue. Ultimately, this research can promote a proactive and compassionate community response.
