Abstract: In this research paper, it will explore the mental health struggles of teenage boys and teenage girls. It will also go on to talk about how technology affects teens' mental health and daily struggles along with approaches to help them. Although teenagers go through different mental struggles, the same alternative ways to fight depression and anxiety through a holistic approach and overall well-being can be used to help them.Depending on the severity of the illness will determine if medication is needed. Even though medication for mental health is often necessary and beneficial, studies are showing a variety of holistic measures can be used in place of medicine or in conjunction with prescriptions to treat people. A holistic approach can be defined as a system that provides support to the whole person and not just their mental health needs. There are many alternative holistic methods to treat a person. The most popular involves proper diet and exercise along with a set sleep schedule. However, there are many other ways to aid in mental health that include painting colors for a room, decluttering and organizing space. By using strategies to improve overall health, it gives control back to the person while also helping to reduce some of the stressful triggers. It is recommended that people meet with their primary doctor first. Holistic approaches have been known to work and people have avoided taking unnecessary medicine because of these approaches. Future study on this topic could include moving beyond medication.
