Abstract: This qualitative study explores the challenges faced by college athletes in managing their dual roles, balancing academic responsibilities with athletic commitments. These competing demands often lead to difficulties in time management, which can negatively impact academic performance, athletic success, and mental well-being. Grounded theory was employed as the research methodology, utilizing semi-structured interviews with college-level student-athletes. Participants were asked to reflect on how enhancing their time management skills could contribute to improvements in various areas of their lives. The findings are expected to reveal a recurring tension between academic and athletic demands, frequently resulting in the prioritization of sports over academics. Many athletes are anticipated to report significant stress arising from inadequate time management practices, with insufficient planning contributing to diminished academic performance. This study seeks to identify effective time management strategies that student-athletes have successfully adopted in their routines. The discussion aims to provide insights into the daily challenges faced by student-athletes, offering valuable perspectives for the broader athletic community. Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of institutional interventions, such as time management training programs, more adaptable academic scheduling options, and enhanced mental health support services. By addressing these issues, the study hopes to offer practical recommendations to improve time management practices and support systems, ultimately fostering both academic success and mental well-being among student-athletes.
