Abstract: It is our belief that state-level legislation impacts access to healthcare. Over the past three years, many states have changed their healthcare laws in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade federal legislation. It is our hypothesis that females of childbearing age in the United States have had an increase in their mortality rates from 2021-2024. Our study objectives include the following activities: Define study population. Select 8 states. Determine the different available methods of terminating a pregnancy. Determine the state’s public health agencies' current policies related to female health care in selected study states. Define state laws for access to pregnancy termination in 8 selected states and penalties associated with unlawful activity. Determining the state mortality rates of study population 2021-2024 by accessing public health databases. Correlate access to pregnancy termination to patient mortality. For states that permit termination of pregnancy, determine how easily the population can access these methods. Contact different public health offices and talk to them about how they educate study population towards options and regulations. Contact the public health office in Albany – rural education/minority health, and request to visit. Current work on this study has been lost due to computer malfunctioning.
