Abstract: Manganese-based metal-organic frameworks exhibit diverse structural properties that make them ideal for studying crystallographic behavior. We investigated the structural arrangement of layered manganese organics with edge-sharing MnO₆ octahedra to understand their symmetry and bonding environment. We report here the characterization of a new crystalline phase with manganese oxide planes, which reveal strong indications of mirror symmetry along the shortest axis, suggesting a monoclinic C2/m space group or a distorted variant. Our x-ray diffraction measurements confirmed manganese–manganese distances of 3.2 Å, supporting the presence of edge-sharing octahedra. These findings provide insight into the structural features that underpin symmetry in manganese oxide frameworks.
