Abstract: People who stutter (PWS) face discrimination in many areas of their lives. Although often dismissed as a minor or purely physical issue, research indicates that stuttering has meaningful, long-term effects on how people navigate school, work, and social life. This research study explores how stuttering is perceived in the workplace, a task that requires comparison with other recognized social and employment challenges. A comparative analysis of how students perceive specific legal classifications, such as disability status or accommodation rights, was done to determine whether PWS are perceived to be protected under the law or remain vulnerable to systemic exclusion. An original survey was created to answer this question, with responses based on an interpretation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Statistical analysis was conducted to identify patterns in the responses.
