Abstract: Single-parent families often face significant emotional, physical, and financial stressors that can negatively impact overall well-being of the children and parents. In underprivileged communities, such as Binghamton, many parents rely on childcare and support services to keep their children safe and healthy. Select organizations aim to alleviate the challenges that single parents face. This study strives to determine the values of these services and the impact of them on the overall well-being of single-parent families. Interviews were conducted with parents regarding daycare experiences and family health outcomes. Results will highlight the benefits of using services for single-parent families and their children’s emotional, physical, and financial well-being as well as any improvements that could be made. The results of this study will allow childcare programs to understand what is helpful in order to provide children the best care they can get.
