Abstract: People of different religious and cultural backgrounds have their own understandings of their relations to nature. Amidst frequent climate disasters altering the natural world, a society’s standards and faith can shape how they handle the change. This study dives into the South Asian region, known for its diverse cultures, religions, environments, and its high susceptibility to climate disasters. By exploring interpersonal relationships and relationships with nature, we can observe the extent to which climate change affects people at a personal and socioeconomic level. The people need to have a voice on what change they want to see in order to push through the harsh effects of climate change with proper aid and resources, preventing initiatives that may cause or reinforce harms. This would also allow us to understand that different communities have different needs depending on their religious and cultural values, which need to be respected when they are observed.
