Abstract: Approximately one third of stroke survivors present with aphasia. Individuals who develop aphasia often face physical, emotional, and social obstacles which negatively impact their quality of life. Among these challenges may include anomia, relationship strain, and worklife impact. Group intervention offers many benefits for people with aphasia (PWA), as it consists of learning opportunities in a motivating and socially rewarding environment. This can expand social networks, support rehabilitation, and can strengthen a positive sense of identity. More recently, research has expanded across modalities, reflecting efforts to improve access and continuity of care. Given the importance of group therapy and the need for evidence based practices not only in the clinical settings, but also for pedagogical purposes, exploring the outcome measures of group therapy and its related pedagogy is essential. In this poster presentation, literature related to aphasia group therapy across modalities and its impact on pedagogy will be examined.
