Abstract: Time and its dimensions have been a subject of human inquiry for many years. Extant research has explored leaders and considered different temporal variables (Bluedorn & Jaussi, 2008). One aspect of time that is often considered is the speed at which leaders make decisions, especially in high-paced and high-pressure environments (Eisenhardt, 1989). Using over 30 interviews of high-level executives from a wide variety of industries, this research takes an inductive look into the temporal experience that leaders tasked with leading creativity and innovation have in their daily work. Implications for theory and practice will be discussed.
